TRIED & TESTED: ELLIS GOURMET BURGER

September 6th, 2011

Most striking feature:

This is such a good spot I would recommend it to everyone who loves a good burger. Because they are really good. I know all of the Amsterdam people who read my blog are dying for a burger from Burgermeester, but I think at Ellis they are even better. I tried the Classic Burger which was very tasty and had a lovely after bite (it looks like they use a sort of vinegar as sauce, but I’m not a food connaisseur). My sister ordered the Burgersboekburger and she was like: wow! Blauwschimmelkaas as ingredient… Amazing! The interior is fantastic with the New York style bar stools, the lovely terrace and the restaurant on the first floor (I would recommend sitting there in front of the open windows). You will be amazed by the lively atmosphere on the Place Saint Catherine where the restaurant is located.

I disagree with your rating of the burger! If it were truly a gourmet burger then they should be making the meat patty themselves, which is not the case. I went on a busy night and my burger arrived just warm. There are no condiments to add to your burger except ketchup. I have eaten great burgers all over the world and for Ellis to call itself gourmet is down right cheeky! 3/10

Thanks for your comment! I love them when I was there, but thanks for your honesty. Hope you have a better one next time – if you’re going there again ;)
