My long awaited trip to New York is a fact. This Wednesday I will jump on the plane and fly to the capital of the world to show you the best of the best. For example: I will not stay at one hotel, but three. All to give you a personal sneak peek inside the coolest hotels of New York. Ofcourse I will find the best restaurants and shops as well.
Do you have any recommendations? Places I really have to check out? Let me know!
And follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram (username PetitePauline) if you want to follow me during the trip.
I’ll be back behind my computer at May 16th.

Hello! Here’s my list of favorite things to see/do/shop/eat in the greatest city on earth:
- ACE HOTEL, 22 W. 29th Street: There’s a coffee place, Stumptown coffee, the best coffee in Manhattan. There’s also an Opening ceremony (small one) and a Project N°!
- MAST BROTHERS CHOCOLATE, 111 North 3rd Street, Williamsburg: a hip family business that makes their own chocolate. Their packaging is amazing!
- McNALLY JACKSON BOOK, 52 Prince Street: the coolest bookshop in town …
- JACK’S STIR BREW, 138 W 10th Street: A micro brewery, very tiny coffee place but so cosy and cool.
- EVERYMAN ESPRESSO, 136 E. 13th Street.: A cool industrial coffee shop located in a garage.
- BARRIO CHINO, 253 Broome Street: A mexican little restaurant, great cocktails!
- SCHILLER’S LIQUOR BAR, 131 Rivington Street: Interior is very nice, great food and cool place to go to in the evening.
- EGG, 135 North 5th Street, Williamsburg: Organic eatery, very nice interior and amazing food!
- UNION POOL, 484 Union Ave, Williamsburg: great place for drinks and dancing … !
- The HIGH LINE PARK: Walk the whole way on a clear day … with a coffee in your hand and enjoy the amazing views!
- URBAN OUTFITTERS: There are a lot of those in NY, and very affordable … I love them.
Enjoy!!!
Hi Pauline,
Last year I went to NYC with my husband and had an amazing trip. Of course Manhattan is great, but I think you should definitely go to Brooklyn, more specifically Williamsburg. The atmosphere is much more laid-back and calm. Next comes downtown Manhattan, shopping heaven (small boutiques, not the average department stores).
If you can make it to Brooklyn. You must pay a visit to a restaurant called Marlow & Sons. terrific food and and wines. All ingredients equally fresh and tasty. Try to go during the week though, because they don’t take reservations. Have fun!!

So many places to recommend, I could write a book.
In the LES food wise, you will surely be hitting the regulars, like Momofuku (noodles) and PDT (speakeasy bar hidden inside Crig Dog), but don’t skip Momofuku Milk bar for the Pretzel Milkshake.
Also in LES there is a store you will like called Top Hat @ 245 Broome St that has pretty design things and a clean look about the shop. Its just a few blocks away from Russ and Daughter were you must go to get Bagel and Lox.
In Brooklyn Places to Eat: Betto (rustic American/Italian), Lucali (pizza made and eaten by candlelight), Mile End (Montreal Smoke Meat, Modern Kosher Deli) Frannies, Brooklyn Larder (to pick up some wine/beer/cheese better than a minibar has to offer). For a taste of Americana go to Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain.
And of course your can’t miss event: http://www.brooklynflea.com/ Where everyone goes to eat/shop/see and be seen.
If in Chelsea: Employees Only, unlabeled speakeasy for dinner or drinks.
Yep, Mile End is definitely a favourite. And don’t miss out on Pearl River Mart and Fishs Eddy, both at Broadway Ave. Brooklyn Flea is great too…! Ping @ Chinatown serves the best dimsum, don’t let the appearance of the restaurant scare you off
22 Mott Street. Have a great trip!
Check out the Ace Hotel – the lobby bar, the Stumptown Coffee Roasters, John Dory Oyster Bar, and the Breslin are not to be missed!
Yes, been there! Thanks for the recommendation. It is an amazing block of cool spots!
Oh! I forgot Elsa in the LES. A bar designed by these two chaps:

Haven’t been there, but it sure looks good. Next time! You’ll always have to have a reason to come back

Dus dank! Op naar de volgende trip! Groetjes, Pauline
I see I am too late, but if you go again… Max Brenner is a must visit for chocolatelovers: http://www.maxbrenner.com/
I also have good memories at Japas 38, karaoke + good food! (Als je dat leuk vindt tenminste lol) http://www.japas38.com/
Thanks for your recommendations! I was already back home when I received them so I couldn’t check them out. Next time! Best wishes, Pauline
