TRIED & TESTED: KIKEKELLER MADRID

July 26th, 2012

Most striking feature:

Kikekeller is a design shop turned into a bar. One of the two owners, Celia, also one of the designers, told me that having a shop alone wasn’t enough. People are hesitating to go inside because they think they have to buy something. So they’ve opened a cafe in the shop. Only open during the weekends. So people can drink something and be able to sit on the chairs and see the other furniture. Everything in here has a funny twist. That’s why I love it. The design duo searches for things that aren’t ordinary, or maybe they are, and they turn it into something you want to have. Right now. Like a whisk turned into a lamp. Or an old carousel airplane turned into a piece of art on the walls. A table made out of puzzle pieces. And the bar has grass on it. Definitely worth going for a drink – or just visiting to see all the design work.

My Madrid trip was sponsored by Transavia and TourSpain.es (Spaans Verkeersbureau).

Transavia flies several times a week to the capital of Spain, check their website for the best tickets.
