Most striking feature:
Matadero Madrid is a former slaughterhouse converted into a massive art complex. It’s definitely not located in the center so take the subway to it. At Matadero you’ll find a cinema, room for creatives to do their thing, exhibitions, two restaurants, the Red Bull music studio’s and much more. We didn’t see a movie there (only in Spanish) but we walked around the complex and it did remind me of places like the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam or Vesterbro in Copenhagen – although this has to come to life a bit more. But hey, it’s only open for a couple of months right now and you already feel the creative vibes so not long before it will be hot & happening. And written about in every standard guidebook.

My Madrid trip was sponsored by Transavia and TourSpain.es (Spaans Verkeersbureau).
Transavia flies several times a week to the capital of Spain, check their website for the best tickets.
