Most striking feature:
The parasols made by Concrete Amsterdam. If you climb the stairs and see the top of it fitting perfectly with the rural landscape around it you think: yes, this is architecture. The owners of Castell d’Emporda are Dutch and it’s located close to the Costa Brava so the main language in here is: Dutch. I’m not someone who likes to recommend places abroad where you only meet people from your home country (why bother to travel?), but the location of this castle is definitely worth a recommendation. Artist Salvador Dali wanted to buy it, but didn’t do it in the end. Hundreds of people use it as their wedding location. The view is magnificent, the building authentic. Go here for a drink under those fantastic parasols while cruising down the winding roads of that beautiful area.
