Most striking feature:
Brand new restaurant of Philippe Starck in Saint-Ouen. It just opened it’s doors last week and I’m happy to show you around. One thing is for sure: Starck doesn’t choose for the obvious area’s like le Marais or upcoming Canal Saint Martin. Mamashelter is located in the 20e arrondissement and Saint-Ouen is an area on the other side of the Peripherique. Famous for it’s flea markets, Saint-Ouen is a lovely place to be if you like antiques and vintage home decor. At le Marche de Paul Bert you will find Ma Cocotte. A stunning restaurant where you’re welcome during the whole day. From a cup of coffee in the morning till late night dinner.
Starck did not only take care of the interior, but he designed the exterior as well. Think: huge windows overlooking the market. Inside there’s the perfect chaos Starck is known for. You see a little bit of the Mamashelter coming through (like the long wooden table in front of the kitchen), but in here the atmosphere is more lovey-dovey. No chalkboard paint. Pastel colored chairs together with white chairs. Beautiful mosaic tiles on the floor. Several mirrors on a concrete wall in the private dining room. Upstairs there’s a terrace (with the Mamashelter Marseille patio chairs, also designed by Starck) and a lounge area. Spacious, beautiful and very inviting. Downstairs you’ll find the toilets, completely made out of sparkling white tiles.
Ma Cocotte means something like ‘my love, my baby’. On the menu you’ll find all the French expressions. From Ma Puce to Mon Chou. Funny! We all know Paris is the city of l’amour, but they also have a lot of nick names for their lover as well. So mark them down. Much better than the standard ‘hey lover’, right?

Lieve Maartje, gaat heel goed!
