Most striking feature:
The interior, done by Lázaro Rosa Violán, is beautiful. The designer is well-known in Barcelona (Big Fish, Chez Coco, The Prakik Hotel: all designed by him). His style isn’t minimalistic. No it’s about a warm, welcoming bombastic explosion of colors, lamps and patterns on the floor. That’s also the case at the newly opened Toto in l’Eixample. The owners of Crusto, the posh bakery next door, decided to open a restaurant where you’re welcome for drinks, lunch and dinner. The chef, Jason Botterill, is from Canada, met his girlfriend, Sylvia Osborne-Calierno in San Francisco and now they run the kitchen here. He was so kind to show me around and told me he worked at the River Cafe and took their famous apple pie recipe back to Barcelona (with a slightly different twist, but still amazingly good). Toto is already in the little black book of Ferran Adria who came here recently and tried out the Italian inspired slow food. Foody heaven so to say. But don’t forget the drinks. By entering the restaurant you will cross a bar with tons of drinks to choose for. Order some finger food with it and you’re ready for a night in Barcelona.
