Most striking feature:

You have to love a bit of concrete while staying here. The concrete staircase for example is beautiful. Casa do Conto opened it’s doors two years ago but not without any drama. They almost finished the complete hotel and 10 days before the official opening there was a fire ruining it completely. Only the remains of the staircase were visible, so the owner and architect, rebuild it completely and used a lot of concrete throughout the whole hotel. In the suites you will find texts written by authors in the concrete ceiling. The texts refer to Porto or to the house. Every suite is different. Some have a huge balcony, others a small kitchenette. There’s also a lobby, living room and breakfast room downstairs. The location is good. Close to the Casa da Musica and you can walk to the center (15 minutes). I stayed at Suite Residence NG on the third floor. The bed is amazing: huge and crispy pillows. When the sun is out you can sit on the terrace over looking Porto. And the good thing is: there’s free wifi throughout the hotel. The breakfast is also something to recommend: freshly baked bread, jus d’orange and small pastries. This will definitely get your day starting good!
