Most striking feature:
In a former brewery in Amsterdam you have your own design apartment which you never, ever, want to leave again. Near Artis, so very central, it’s located in a quiet area with former houses for the people who worked at the brewery. Stefan and Steven, the owners of Stout & Co, fell in love with this place where they not only work (on the ground floor you’ll find their landscape and interior design studio), but will also be living there soon and they rent five apartments to guests. I’ve checked in last Saturday and ofcourse, because of the background of the owners, you can assume that it’s very, very good interior-wise, but the attention to details makes Stout & Co. really stand out. All the facilities are on the first floor. In the breakfast room or lobby you will find the latest magazines and newspapers, a young illustrator made a map of Amsterdam on the wall and it shows you where to find the Rijksmuseum, but also spots like Hotel de Goudfazant and Cafe Modern and in the closet you’ll find themed cards with three tips. If you’re looking for a concept store, for example, then grab the card with the three best concept stores in the city. Or if you wanna know where to find the best cinema, then you get that card. The next morning the breakfast is served here too. And it’s delicious! Everything comes from Landmarkt, so you get, mind you if you don’t have a huge appetite in the morning, yoghurt with granola, freshly squeezed orange juice, a fruit salad, eggs, cheese and meat plate, bread, croissants and coffee or tea. That will keeps you going throughout the day! But now the room. All the rooms have the same design, but they differ in color accents. From pink to green and from blue to yellow. The beautiful sofa is made by Stefan and Steven themselves and is the ideal place to read some of the magazines lying there (like Cereal or Mark). In the kitchen you can make a cup of tea or coffee. And on the wall you’ll see the awesome poster ‘Ma’am step away from the computer’. The bathroom not only looks stunning with the beautiful tiles, but you actually don’t have to bring your own beauty products because they provide the shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash – all from Aesop. Another nice detail is the bouquet of flowers on the sink. The blankets and pillows on bed are so fluffy that you never wanna get out of bed anymore. If you like small hotels with lots of attention to design, details and with great service, then you will love Stout & Co.!
