Most striking feature:

Right in the middle of Little India you will find the Wanderlust Hotel, a small designhotel with about 25 rooms, all decorated differently. This is very special in Singapore where the hotels are usually very big and massive. I checked into the Starship Room: a room with a red and black color palette with many references to space. Like the big red spaceship on the wall. And if you turn down the lights the only thing that remains in the room are lit sparklers. The room has two levels: one to sleep and a living- and bathroom (including a freestanding bathtub). Maybe I’m the only one, but beautiful packaged hotel extras such as a pen or an extra set of toothpaste always make me very happy. At the Wanderlust Hotel you will firstly get a Wanderlust Notebook which contains all the information you need (such as your wifi password, but also the metro lines and recommendations to sleep and shop around the hotel), but the other amenities look great too. This is the work of Foreign Policy Design, who also designed the business card of Table no 1 at the Waterhouse at Southbund in Shanghai (in my opinion the most beautiful business card in the world).

On the ground floor of the hotel you see the details of the neighborhood coming back in the interior. I’ve spotted wallpaper with Indian prints and you can sit in barber chairs. They have thought of people who like games because there’s a table football table and you can always order drinks at the bar. In the back of the lobby you will find restaurant Cocotte where you can try their French cuisine. On the second floor there’s a large hot tub where you can cool down after a day in the heat of Singapore. Conclusion: a great home base for your stay in Singapore.

Thanks for sharing these great Singapore photos. I always hear that Singapore is a very clean city, but kind of boring – just global name brand stores, hotels, and restaurants. It’s great to see that’s not true. What a fabulous hotel room!

Thanks Erin! No Singapore is definitely not boring – there are so many great small, independent addresses. Definitely worth putting on your Travel Bucket List 🙂

Have a lovely weekend, best wishes, Pauline
