First there was a restaurant located in this beautiful corner building on a side street of the Haarlemmerdijk (where you’ll also find cool shops like Store Without a Home, Restored and Tenue de Nimes) before Toki opened its doors last Wednesday. Toki is a project of Jeff Flink, who previously worked in advertising while dreaming of opening his own ‘toko’ and that’s exactly what he did. What stands out in the interior is the overall atmosphere of minimalism: the wooden bar and the blue floor are already stunning. But the real eye-catchers are the couches. One is made out of marble and reminded us of the new store and collection of Maison Kitsune in Paris and the other couch is a design of Stephen Kenn from Los Angeles (also spotted at Juice Served Here). It’s such a couch you never want to get out of anymore. Not a problem at all, because apart from the coffee (from Bonanza Coffee Roasters Berlin) they also serve delicious cakes by Petit Gateau. The chocolade mud cake looks especially tasty! The idea is that they will serve lunch here soon too and when you enter Toki later during the day you can order a beer by Crate Brewery in London. Definitely a recommendation when going to Amsterdam!
