THE HOXTON HOLBORN
Last week I’ve stayed at The Hoxton in Holborn, almost 6 months after my stay at The Hoxton in Amsterdam (read my review here). If The Hoxton Holborn is one thing then you can say it’s happening. During the whole day the lobby and restaurant are full of people: both tourists and locals. The interior is done pretty well with comfortable sofas, a beautiful bar and big lamps above the communal tables in the restaurant. Next to the bar you’ll find Cheeky, a well-designed nail bar and when you go downstairs you’ll find Chicken Shop, a restaurant focussed on recipes with chicken from the Soho House Group. And next door you can order your cup of coffee at Holborn Grind. You can see: even if you don’t stay here, you can easily spend some hours here. There are four different room types and I stayed in the Cozy Room, larger then the Shoebox and Snug but smaller than the Roomy. There’s a big comfortable chair in the room which is perfect if you want to take a rest after a day in the city or read a local newspaper. There’s a table to get some work done, a big television, beautiful wallpaper and art on the walls, a very comfortable bed with a funny pillow and a small, yet perfect, bathroom. In the morning they deliver breakfast with yogurt, a banana and orange juice up to your room, but when I’m in London I like to start the day with eggs and tea I had breakfast in their restaurant Hubbard & Bell. The location is formidable. Close to Covent Garden and even closer to the Central Line which brings you to Soho, Oxford Street (on one side) and Leicester Street Station (10 minute walk to Shoreditch, on the other side).
