Once the SP34 Hotel in Copenhagen was Hotel Fox, the hotel where every room had a different theme. A few years ago they decided to change the concept and turn the somewhat backpackerish-atmosphere of Hotel Fox into a modern 4-star Danish hideaway where the guests vary from stylish friends on a citytrip to businessmen. The hotel isn’t only a hotel, because the rooms are surrounded by several hospitality concepts. There’s Cock’s & Cows, an American bistro, there’s a cool cafe called Dye Nye Ven, Restaurant Work in Progress, the breakfast area downstairs, a rooftop bar and at 5pm they have a wine hour during which they treat every guest to a glass of wine. Meant for guests to mingle in the lobby. They also have a library filled with a lot of design books. Yes, you need to take some time to discover the communal areas. The rooms are perfect: they have a warm atmosphere and are filled with Danish design. From the tea cups to the lamps and the lounge chair: everything is beautiful. Nice rooms, delicious restaurants, a free wine hour are all reasons to not leave your hotel at all, but I’ll have to tell you about the location. It’s the best because you can reach Norrebro, Vesterbro and the center in a few minutes. Rent a bike at the hotel and nothing can stop you to discover more restaurants and shops in Copenhagen!

I love SP34. I’ve stayed here 3 times now and honestly on the trips where exploring the city is not on the agenda, I’m happy to not leave the neighbourhood let alone the hotel. Din Nye Ven is great, and hanging out in the lobby is a fun spot unto itself. The restaurant Väkst is now where “In Progress” used to be and looks to be pretty interesting!
