MANON LES SUITES COPENHAGEN
The most striking thing at the newly opened Manon les Suites in Copenhagen is definitely the huge patio and the swimming pool. Although you’re in Copenhagen, where the temperature in May is still around 5 degrees, it feels like you’ve arrived in a tropical environment. As if you’re in Asia. Picture this: all of the rooms on the six floors look out onto the patio with lots of plants, loungebeds, parasols, the swimming pool and a bar. In the background you’ll hear the calming sound of loungemusic.
Manon les Suites is the latest hotel of the Guldsmeden Hotel Group, an independent hotel group with a huge focus on being eco-conscious. That means for example that they don’t use the tiny shampoo and bath gel bottles hotels throw away after a guest leaves, but big 500ml bottles they can recycle easier. They work together with an eco-conscious brand and apart from the standard amenities like shampoo and hand wash they have a basket full of other toiletries for you to use. Such as deodorant, tooth paste – even razors. That really adds up to the luxury feeling you already have in the spacious suites.
The Guldsmeden Hotel Group is also known for their four-pillar beds that make you feel like a princess. The room also has a small kitchen, a living area, a minibar filled with Danish eco-products and a yogamat in the bedroom to practice your Sun Salutations when you wake up.
Apart from the swimming pool there’s also a modern gym in the basement where they do boxing, fitness and pilates. On the six floor there’s a restaurant where they serve a delicious breakfast in the morning and smorrebrod with salmon in the evening. There’s a rooftop terrace with views over the city and even a sauna if you like to relax after a day in the city.
The location is superb – very close to the Lakes so with your bike (you can rent them at the hotel) you will be in the center and Vesterbro in five minutes, in Norrebro in ten and if you like to go to Paper Island, which feels like the other side of town, it will only take you 15-20 minutes by bike. At night you can walk to my favorite restaurant in town called Host, which was awarded as the most beautiful restaurant in the world a few years ago.
