THE STANDARD STORE APARTMENT MELBOURNE
In the heart of Fitzroy, above The Standard Store, you will find The Standard Store Apartment, an unique place to stay if you like to feel like a true Melbournian. Nicola and Orlando, the owners of The Standard Stores in both Melbourne and Sydney, have a gift to present Australian people the best of European, and especially Parisian brands. So if you’re looking for Sessun, Kitsune or Etudes, this is the place to go. When the apartment upstairs came available Nicola turned it into a cool apartment and I’ve checked it out for you!
You have to enter The Standard Store Apartment via the store or the, with graffiti decorated, laneway behind the store. The apartment consists out of a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room and she designed it with quirky and fabulous Australian design. You don’t find a super slick designers kitchen in here, also the bathroom is slightly older but that’s the charm of staying in a typical Fitzroy apartment. You really feel like a local. And the decoration is pretty cool. You will start laughing at the Donald Trump cleaning cloth (for sale at nearby Third Drawer Down). You will love the prints on the wall. And the couch by Poppy & Scott is just amazing (unfortunately not something that fits in my suitcase…).
There’s a selection of great magazines in the living room and when you look out of the window you see happening Gertrude Street. A very good location if you like to explore Fitzroy and Collingwood. The bedroom is my favorite part of this apartment: with a lot of soft pillows and linnen duvets and pillow cases you will sleep like a baby here.
