Mercato in Shanghai is already a big success and this year they also opened Mercato Hong Kong. I’ve tried their lunch and would highly recommend it!

Star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten runs restaurants such as ABC Kitchen and The Mercer Kitchen in New York and the Market in Paris. And he has been very successful with Mercato in Shanghai. As the name suggests, it is all about Italian cuisine in here. Recently, they opened their first establishment in the heart of Hong Kong.


Interior design

On the eighth floor of the California Tower you will notice the stunning design by Chinese architect-duo Neri & Hu immediately. Look at the bricks, the beautiful bar that incorporates a super-large mirror and the lighting throughout the restaurant. There’s also a small terrace.


Ricotta with strawberries

A lunch or dinner starts with their signature dish: ricotta with strawberries. Sounds simple, is incredibly delicious. Just like the following dishes like the homemade pasta and dessert, a sundae with caramel ice cream, hot chocolate sauce, peanuts and popcorn. A reservation is advisable.
