COFFEE SOMETIME AMSTERDAM (NOW CLOSED)
UNFORTUNATELY THIS SPOT NOW CLOSED ITS DOORS.
A friend of owner Yulia Nenadic told her that every time she met someone nice in Amsterdam the conversation roughly went like this: ‘How are you? … We should get a coffee sometime.’ However, often without a follow-up. That’s why Yulia decided to name her beautiful cafe Coffee Sometime. So whenever someone says ‘we should get a coffee sometime’ you can take action immediately. ‘How about 11 am at Coffee Sometime?’ Of course, no one can resist that 😉
Russian-born Yulia worked in IT, but her sense of style brought her to Belgium where she saw the works of Bram Vanderbeke at St Vincents. The stools were stacked on top of each other, she immediately fell in love with them and decided to use them as a starting point for Coffee Sometime. You can also see the works of Muller van Severen (the lamps and the beautiful marble bench). To bring everything together, she worked with Charlotte Vlerick from Hija Studio in Antwerp. I think it’s safe to say that it’s a little bit of Belgium in Amsterdam. Mixed with Danish design items of Frama Copenhagen.
Coffee, breakfast and lunch
Coffee Sometime is located on the Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat, near the Overtoom. It’s open during the day for excellent coffee, breakfast, and lunch. I saw a delicious Banana French Toast – which I will order next time – but decided to go for something savory (the Avocado Toast with a poached egg). The coffee is perfect too. Barista Viola Ludemann worked at Coffee Collective in Copenhagen and Tony Dijkstra at Scandinavian Embassy.
