TRIED & TESTED: &FOAM AMSTERDAM

March 12th, 2012

Most striking feature:

Foam is the Museum of Photography in Amsterdam. Definitely worth a visit because they collect work of the best photographers in the world (Mario Testino, Anton Corbijn, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin). Ofcourse the museum has a museumshop but it’s a tiny little place (compared to the huge one Fotografiska in Stockholm owns for example). Now that they’ve opened &Foam in January they have enough Read more…

March 7th, 2012

Most striking feature:

In this side street of the Albert Cuyp (famous open air market in Amsterdam) you’ll find a lot of restaurants, but Cotton Cake is the one you can’t miss because of their sparkling white facade. Inside the minimalistic white interior continues. Cotton Cake is part cafe and part Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: CONSERVATORIUM HOTEL

January 23rd, 2012

Most striking feature:

Old mixed with new. The newly opened Conservatorium hotel in Amsterdam is housed in a formal, you’ve guessed it, conservatorium. It’s a monument and therefor the architect (Pierro Lissoni, known for the Mamilla Hotel among others) couldn’t change the outlook of the impressive building. But hey, you’re a genius so you stick a huge glass building to it. In there you find a lounge, a living tree surrounded by glass and a brasserie. Upstairs (there where you enter the old building) you find a bar (where it was quite busy on this Friday afternoon) and a restaurant called Tunes. I love it when Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: HOTEL DE GOUDFAZANT

December 20th, 2011

Do you know that the owners of Hotel de Goudfazant are gonna open a new one in Eindhoven? See the sneak preview

Most striking feature:

If you have to compare a restaurant with a fashion item, Hotel de Goudfazant is definitely a precious Chanel bag. Never goes out of fashion. Definitely not a temporarily hit. It’s here for ages already, but it’s still good. And why is that? First. It’s not in the center of Amsterdam so you have to Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: OPTIONS! AMSTERDAM

December 19th, 2011

Most striking feature:

‘Please, can I live here?’, was my first reaction when entering the newly opened store Options! in Amsterdam. It’s part of the Exchange Hotel, and that’s why you can buy a lot of hotel goodies in the store. Not the standard soap, bath robes etc. But the things you want to decorate your home with. I fell in love with the Read more…
