TRIED & TESTED: VIKTOR ANTWERP

March 26th, 2013

viktorantwerp

Most striking feature:

Viktor is a shop, cafe and exhibition space in one. They are open for two months now and when we arrive on a Saturday afternoon we are lucky that there’s one table left. You can go there for a cup of coffee, but I’ve tried the hot white chocolatemilk and I would recommend everyone to order one as well. Delicious! Sweet and perfect to warm yourself up during a cold day like last Saturday. The interior is filled with beautiful furniture and everything is for sale. So you can try their furniture before buying it and it’s a clever move because the shop owners (Yannick Moonen and Lotte Stofs) get Read more…

FAVORITES: GENT

December 14th, 2012

The question I’m asked most often is: ‘what are your absolute favorites?’ That’s a tough question because everything on my site is a favorite, because otherwise I won’t write about it. But if I have to narrow them down to a shortlist of the best addresses, so you can print it out and take it with you, you have found the right page. Here you go: my favorites, all Tried & Tested, in Gent! Enjoy! Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: I/OBJECT POP UP STORE GENT

December 11th, 2012

Most striking feature:

On the ground floor of Shelter 7, the apartment I stayed at last week, i/Object pops up in December. i/Object is the best online giftshop for designlovers like myself. They sell interior items, books, funny things for kids and stationary. Usually they work online, but now they also sell their beautiful items offline. In this temporarily Christmas pop up shop. What caught my eye? The Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: HUMØR BY REWIND GENT

December 11th, 2012

Most striking feature:

Also in the Bennesteeg – almost next door to Shelter 7 – you will find the new store called Humør. I don’t know if you can remember but last year there was a pop up shop called BEN. A successful concept that eventually ended (that’s the thing with pop ups, even if they are very, very cool they have to close their doors). But after a few months Christophe Urbain of the popular Rewind stores in Gent was asked to open a Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: CLOUDS IN MY COFFEE GENT

December 10th, 2012

Most striking feature:

Perfect coffee spot in Gent by the owners of the online shop i/object (definitely worth visiting when you’re in need of Christmas presents). In March they already owned the place and opened a temporarily pop up store and now they’ve opened this busy cafe. People walk in for coffee or a healthy lunch. There’s a bar area in the front with a beautiful handmade cupboard where they show some products you can buy in their online shop. Like a knitting-package of Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: SHELTER 7 GENT

December 10th, 2012

Most striking feature:

They call it an apartment on their website, but I think you better call it your own home in the center of Gent. Shelter 7 opened it’s doors in October and is housed in a building you would expect to see in an architectural magazine. On the ground floor there’s room for meetings, events and pop up shops (like the one of i/Object this month – I will write about that one later this week), on the first floor you will find your living room, dining room and small kitchen, on the second floor there’s a small concrete bathroom with view over Gent, a space to relax and read one of many design books Shelter 7 displays and a terrace where you can eat in Summer and on the third floor you will find your bedroom with view over Gent. The interior is done by Belgium designer Frederic Hooft and online shop i/Object added some small items to it. Like the book ‘Belgische Designers en hun interieur‘, the Llot Llov lamp and the Elephant organiser. What I liked most Read more…
