TRIED & TESTED: MAMASHELTER MARSEILLE

August 20th, 2012

Most striking feature:

The outdoor patio? The spacious rooms? The pink football table in the restaurant? There’s too much to discover in this newly (April 2012) opened Mamashelter. I’ve been to the first one in Paris and for those of you who’ve been there you already know that’s it somewhat outside the center. That’s also the case here in Marseille. They do it so the visitors can easily mix with a typical neighbourhood – not the area’s full of tourists. The hotel staff did come up with a guide of Marseille and they are happy to point you to restaurants or bars around the hotel. And there’s a lot to discover, but you have to understand that the hotel isn’t a place to leave quickly. The restaurant attracts a lot of locals so it’s really the place to hang out at night. They have alcohol-free cocktails named Ol’ Dirty Bastard or De La Soul (ofcourse also cocktails with alcohol in it) and outside there’s a pastis bar (I didn’t know the roots of that France liqueur lie in Marseille).

Okay you probably want to know how this hotel differs from the one in Paris? Read more…
