ansh46rotterdam

Most striking feature:

If you love fashion, put Ansh46 high on your list if you’re visiting Rotterdam. It’s the store to go to if you like Alexander Wang (oh, those striped shirts), Phillip Lim 3.0 (I’ve spotted a wool jacket you’ll never want to get out of again) or Carven (hello, sweet biker jacket). Exclusive brands in a damn fine environment. Simple racks where you will find the clothes on and beautiful dressing Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: GROOS ROTTERDAM

March 8th, 2013

groosrotterdam

Most striking feature:

A concept store where they only sell design, art, books and music by Rotterdam people. The perfect souvenir store for people who don’t like the standard mugs, postcards and t-shirts, but love to take something with them that’s really made in Rotterdam. To support local talent or to have something extremely original in your home. I love to see this happening in more cities around the world. Groos opened Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: OBJET TROUVÉ ROTTERDAM

February 20th, 2013

objettrouverotterdam

Most striking feature:

‘Wow, what a beautiful collection of clothes’, was my first reaction by seeing all those pieces of fashion hanging at the newly opened Objet Trouvé in Rotterdam. For example a lovely pair of skinny jeans by Mother (from the same agent as Isabel Marant). Or a dress by Hope. Or a simple shirt by Rue Blanche. The enthusiastic owner, Floor Theuns, explained that they sell Scandinavian and French labels without the heavy price tag. Apart from that they also Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: THE KITCHEN ROTTERDAM

January 8th, 2013

thekitchenrotterdam

Most striking feature:

New all-day-open cafe in Rotterdam. I’ve passed The Student Hotel several times (it’s a five minute walk from my home) but I thought it was only for students who stayed at the hotel. Was I wrong. There’s a separate entrance for the Kitchen. A beautiful designed cafe where you can enter all day. For breakfast, to read a paper on one of the long wooden tables, to Read more…

TRIED & TESTED: UIT JE EIGEN STAD ROTTERDAM

October 25th, 2012

Most striking feature:

From the rooftop gardens in Brooklyn and Portland to the outskirts of Rotterdam: growing fruit and vegetables in an urban environment is what the world likes these days. Uit je eigen stad is an agricultural city farm – they grow their own vegetables and have chicken walking around – nearby Marconiplein in Rotterdam. There’s a shop where you can buy all of that freshly produced food next to bread of Vlaamsch Broodhuys and wine from Grapedistrict. They’ve opened the doors on September 22 and are planning to give workshops about how you can grow your own vegetables while living in the city. But the best thing is: they have a cool restaurant which is open during lunch and dinner. The menu Read more…

The interior with vintage pharmacy cupboards used as a display for their clothes. C.Cruden is a denim brand from Rotterdam. Known for their baggy pants with two buttons and a special system in it so you still get a ‘good butt’ in it. But they also make Read more…
