TRIED & TESTED: CITIZEN M AMSTERDAM

August 24th, 2011

Petite Passport says: thank you.

Most striking feature:

In August 2011 I visited the hotel on Schiphol again – for a book presentation. You know what I like most about this hotel? Their humour. When entering the hotel there’s a doormat complimenting you on your shoes (by that every woman is already a fan of the hotel don’t you think, very clever!). The restaurant area is filled with a counter full of funny gadgets. Like the ‘snog me senseless’ breath freshener. And the Mile High kit. The space is decorated very beautiful so you want to live there immediately (just like Vincent van Dijk, the writer of Amsterdam Slaapt, did).

69 euro per night. Check out: www.citizenm.com

TRIED & TESTED: THE PRAKTIK RAMBLA

August 3rd, 2011

Most striking feature:

This is the second time I stayed at the Praktik. And although there were a lot of other hotels to test in Barcelona, I liked this hotel so much last time, that I’ve booked again. But there was only one room available. The single one, and the smallest of the whole hotel. And this is where the creativity of the Praktik comes in. Because this very small room, had everything I had in the large room I stayed in (except the view and the double bed) last time. The cool lamps, the closet with the mirrors on it, the rainshower, the cool bed stand, the black and white details. If you don’t want to pay much, but like to stay in style and on the best location of Barcelona (between all the shops and restaurants like Cornelia & Co and El Mordisco are on walking distance), choose for the Praktik.
