At Artte in the l’Eixample district of Barcelona art comes together with great food and tea (that explains the two t’s in the name). In the restaurant there’s a stage where they organize poetry, theatre and music performances, they also have a website where you can support local artists and throughout the whole property you will see beautiful pieces of art. The tropical print in the cafe is definitely striking. It’s only temporarily, because every few months they paint it white again and another artist gets the chance to fill the wall. Nice! Then there’s Read more…

3 reasons to go there:

  1. If you already like the other Praktik Hotels such as Praktik Rambla, Praktik Garden and Praktik Bakery in Barcelona and Praktik Metropol in Madrid. They are gonna open a new Praktik Hotel on October 30th.
  2. If you like wine. Praktik Vinoteca has a wine-theme: in the interior, but they also have wine tastings and a large terrace where you can try wines from famous Spain wineries.
  3. If you like to explore the l’Eixample district. They are really close to Toto, Cornelia & Co and Oval.

Most striking feature:

Oval Barcelona opened it’s doors only two months ago and although this spot is open from morning to late at night, it’s all about the burgers in here. I’m gonna try those later. Right now I wanted to enjoy the beautiful interior. The work of an architect from Mallorca who lives in Barcelona (fyi: Flexo Arquitectura). What I really like about the place are the walls. The whitewash walls on one side of the cafe, the wooden panels on the other side. And then there’s a wall made our of red bricks. This morning I stepped inside at 10am and there were people sitting there enjoying a cup of coffee and the morning paper. Oval is located in l’Eixample (on Carrer Valencia on the corner of Enric Granados, close to those Read more…

Most striking feature:

The interior, done by Lázaro Rosa Violán, is beautiful. The designer is well-known in Barcelona (Big Fish, Chez Coco, The Prakik Hotel: all designed by him). His style isn’t minimalistic. No it’s about a warm, welcoming bombastic explosion of colors, lamps and patterns on the floor. That’s also the case at the newly opened Toto in l’Eixample. The owners of Crusto, the posh bakery next door, decided to open a restaurant where you’re welcome for drinks, lunch and dinner. The chef, Jason Botterill, is Read more…

Most striking feature:

The large windows. It seems like you’re in a display with those floor to ceiling windows. Perfect for some people-watching, an activity which you can also practice on their terrace. But you rather keep your eyes on the menu where you will find ‘the best burgers in town’ so they say. You better go and try them, right? That’s what we did. The Manhattan was a burger without a bun, but with fries. Delicious cooked with a delicious flavor (8 euro). The Jerry’s has a bun and Read more…
