New in Madrid is the Tótem Hotel in Salamanca, a beautiful designed hotel by the same owners as Cap Rocat in Mallorca, Gecko Beach Club in Formentera, Hotel Viura in the Rioja area and Urso in Madrid. Tótem is located on a superb location if you’re going to Madrid for a shopping trip as all the upscale boutiques and Zara are all close by.

The hotel and its restaurant take inspiration from F. Scott Fitzgerald, the famous American writer who is known for The Great Gatsby among others. That’s why the restaurant and bar is called Hermosos y Malditos (after his novel The Beautiful and the Damned). The restaurant is open all day as a sort of living room of the hotel and the food is Mediterranean with a touch of American food. In the evenings you can visit the beautiful designed bar and have one of their delicious cocktails. With their choice of music they go back to the time of F. Scott Fitzgerald: think of jazz music with a bit of bossanova. The interior is done by Better es Mejor, who are known for their amazing pop-up events like the Hovse, Table By or August in Mallorca.

The rooms have a minimalistic touch and are done by Corium Casa, a design company from Barcelona who also did Hotel Omm. All the rooms are really spacious and face either the street or the inside patio. A perfect place to stay in Madrid.
