Always wanted to have your own beautifully decorated apartment in the heart of Lisbon (if only for a few days), then you’ll love The Lisboans.

Factory of canned and preferred food

Three sisters and Isaac, one of their partners, started The Lisboans in 2016. They found this building, which was a factory of canned and preferred food, and completely renovated it. They even set up an extra floor. An immense amount of work, but now there are 15 beautiful boutique style apartments for single travelers like me or for small groups of six people. Perfect if you’re traveling with your sister and mother, with a group of friends or with kids.

Boutique style apartments

My visit starts with a lunch at Prado, the restaurant that opened half a year ago and is also run by the people behind The Lisboans. When I arrive into my apartment, I totally understand the advantage of having your own apartment. You have enough space, a separate bedroom, a kitchen and a spacious bathroom. You can relax on the couch after a long day in the city. Or decide to get a pizza if you don’t feel like going out in the evening.

Hand-made in Portugal

Each apartment is different, but still has the same style. My room is filled with DVDs. Another has a lot of books. But all the apartments have their own bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen everywhere. It only differentiates in size. A lot of what you see is hand made in Portugal. Like the tiles in the bathroom or the ones behind the kitchen, but also the beautiful bedspreads.

And the location? Fantastic. In the heart of Baixa, within walking distance of almost everything. And if not, a tram will stop nearby, which will take you to the LX Factory or the Maat Museum for example. If you walk to the left, you are at Praca do Comercio in a few minutes, if you walk to the right, you’re in Alfama in no time and find amazing viewpoints.

Looks wonderful! I will travel to Lissabon in fall. As I will be on my own, the Lisboans are a little too expensive for just one person. Do you have another recommendation though? Your style-love perfectly meets mine 🙂 Greetings from Berlin, Jenny
