Ten years ago, Swiss/Danish couple Ruth Kramer and Thomas Schacht moved to Vals to start a new life in the mountains. Two years later they opened Brücke 49, one of the most stylish guesthouses in the country.

Design classics

Design classics such as the beautiful 1933 Safari Chairs by Kaare Klint are combined with warm sheepskin throws. The four rooms are decorated in a minimalistic way and have a view of the mountains. None of the rooms have a private bathroom, a main bathroom is shared with the other guests.

Breakfast is the highlight of the day. Similar to other personal addresses such as My Home in Porto, you share the breakfast at a communal table. A great way to exchange tips and try the delicious local specialties.

The area

Vals is a small skiing area with predominantly red and black slopes which makes it an ideal destination for the more advanced skiers. Don’t miss the 7132 Therme & Spa Vals. This award-winning spa was designed by architect Peter Zumthor.

From 190 euros per night,
