AO BAR AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam-West has a new Japanese inspired coffee bar called Ao bar where they serve the best mille crepe matcha next to coffee of Monks Coffee Roasters.

Coffee and denim

Ao means blue in Japanese and if you enter the bar it’s evident that the baby blue color served as the inspiration for not only the interior but also the branding. The two male owners have a background in coffee and denim (Rene worked at Tenue de Nimes and Roy at Denham) so they know how to combine style with the best beans.

Matcha goodies

Apart from the coffee (try the Matcha latte) they serve Japanese tea, delicious lemonades in striking bottles and people come from far to try their pastries. The mille crepe matcha is a favorite, but I’ve also tried the matcha marble cake which is superb, just as the sweet custardy goods. Lots of reasons to go there! Oh, and I forgot to tell you they have an amazing take-away bag for your coffee. Perfect if you want to take it with you to Westerpark for example.
