Most striking feature:
This is heaven! As you may have noticed on Instagram and Facebook I was in one of earth’s most precious places called Papaya Playa Project. A fairly new hotel in Tulum which started as a pop up hotel initiated by designhotels.com. Now they are here to stay and welcome guests from all over the world who seek tranquility, nature and inspiration. The hotel consists of cabanas: simple ones with a shared bathroom, cabanas with their own bathroom and a sea view and luxurious cottages. We stayed in room 29, an ocean-front cabana with a hammock on the terrace. The perfect place to read a book or just take a power-nap before heading to the beach again. There’a spa and a yoga space (I followed a Vinyasa yoga class by a teacher with a lot of humor for 12 dollar), two boutiques, a bar and a restaurant. All stretched out over a huge surface so you don’t hear anything when you’re in your room. They welcome couples, but also people with children who can rent a bigger house.
After breakfast (an omelette with mushrooms and a fruit platter and a freshly squeezed juice) you can move to one of the lounge mattresses on the beach and get into the slow pace we, people living in happening cities around the world with a lot of distractions, are looking for in a vacation. There’s a waiter bringing you pinadas or guacamole with chips. And at night you can eat in their restaurant (try the fajitas), drink something at the bar or watch a movie on Friday night. But how does the Papaya Playa Project stands out? The attention for detail. It looks like there’s a stylist on duty to make every corner of the resort look like it could be published in an interior magazine straight away. From beautiful vases to even more beautiful flowers and from an old cabinet to cute pillows. It all looks perfect! The only bad thing? That we had to leave after six days, could have stayed here forever!
