SAGO HOTEL NEW YORK
During my recent trip to New York I stayed at the Sago Hotel, a brand new hotel on the Lower East Side. If you arrive from The Butcher’s Daughter in Nolita you will immediately see the small architectural building the hotel is in. Stunning and it makes you curious: how does it looks like from inside? When you enter the hotel it’s indeed small and the color palette is darkish. Although it’s busy outside because you’re in the heart of everything – close to Nolita, close to the Lower East Side, close to fantastic restaurants – it immediately feels calm inside. You’re home. And that’s exactly what they like to give to their guests: the feeling of living in New York, having your own apartment, but with the services of a hotel. There are 10 floors and the rooms from the sixth floor and up all have beautiful views of the skyline of the city. The top floor duplex penthouse even has its own terrace. I’ve seen almost all the rooms and I’ve stayed at my favorite, the King Studio Deluxe. It doesn’t have a wide view over the skyscrapers, but it does look out onto Orchard Street and it has a perfect reading nook from where you can do people-watching from your bed. That’s just fantastic! There was something going on with a pop up store of a famous cat when I was there and I could see it all. Also the room is fantastic: it is long and small and has a bathroom, a bath (very unique in New York!), a kitchenette and a soft bed. I’ve only stayed here for a night, but I love to come back and stay longer next time. And they will open a restaurant in the basement soon, so that’s worth checking out too!
