All female team

De Maria is open all day – from breakfast to late night drinks in the newly opened basement bar. It’s the latest project of dj and music producer Grace Lee, who worked with Kanye West, and chef Camille Becerra, an Instagram famous chef with almost 80.000 followers because everyone loves here take on food. She had chef residencies at Cafe Henrie and worked at Navy. They also worked with Amy Morris and Anna Polonsky of MP Shift for the interior – who also did the design and branding for the food concept of Hotel Bienvenue in Paris among others. An all female team as you see.

 

Banana bread for breakfast

The interior is beautiful with lots of wood, soft color tones, striking art on the walls and personally I love the arches in the building. The bar is striking too – and the place to go for a cocktail. There’s also a small terrace in front of the restaurant. I’ve tried their banana bread as a second breakfast, but I really like to come back for the tiger bowl, summer dragon bowl or the ceviche. You see: healthy dishes that makes you happy.

    Hi Pauline,

    Tijdens de voorbereiding voor mijn trip naar NYC zag ik dat dit restaurant inmiddels gesloten is. Jammer, zag er leuk uit (gelukkig staan er genoeg andere tips in je boekje).

    Anyway, ik dacht het geef het even door.

      Hi Rik, dank voor je bericht en voor het laten weten! Ik ga het direct aanpassen (in de online guide, de printed volgt dan weer zodra de nieuwe update beschikbaar is). Wel zonde dat zo’n prachtig restaurant dan maar 1,5 jaar open is. Fijne tijd in New York! Groetjes, Pauline
